Sixth Doctor and Mel comic strip

Check out Outrage! It's a sixth Doctor and Mel comic strip crossing over with (of all things) Jem and the Holograms. The writer/artist previously did a Ten Doctors comic strip and a third Doctor strip, both of which were very good, so I'm looking forward to seeing how this adventure goes.

Four Times Melanie Jane Bush Didn't Give Up, and One Time She Very Nearly Did

Title: Four Times Melanie Jane Bush Didn't Give Up, and One Time She Very Nearly Did
Characters: Mel, Six, Mel's parents and friends
Rating: G
Word Count: 3,500
Summary: She's a Bush, and Bushes never give up.
A/N: This was inspired by Mel's speech in The One Doctor. While it was a hilarious scene, I thought it said a lot about Mel as a character.
Also, this contains very slight spoilers for that, and rather larger spoilers for Catch-1782.

Hope it's ok to post this here!

While of course we all know that Mel is freakin' awesome, since then Bonnie Langford has done a lot of other stuff - from singing and musical theatre to ice dancing! So carawj and I have started a community for appreciation of Bonnie generally, and we'd love to see some Mel fans there!

Rating: PG-13 (for girlkisses and some violence)
Length: ~2100

This was written as part of undermistletoe with the prompt: Pick a song title from the "Best Country-Western Song Titles of All-Time" site...and go. I took the title "Get Your Tongue Otta My Mouth 'Cause I'm Kissing You Goodbye" although there are only two goodbye kisses here.
A/N 2: This is part of The Terrors and Triumphs of Space Piracy: A Girl's Own Paper 'verse, but can stand alone.

The One Doctor, aka ILU Mel!

So, yesterday I finished The One Doctor, which I'd been listening to over the past while in bits and pieces at the gym. And when I thought about writing up a review, I realized all I really wanted to say was "wow, Mel just makes EVERYTHING better!"

The story was cute and funny, and I liked the anti-heroes and then I also found that I enjoyed Six. As someone who still hasn't seen Mel's stories with Six from the telly as that involves, well, watching Six as well, again, this is the "Mel, you are AWESOME!" reaction. Honestly, I didn't like everything about her in her television eps with Seven, but more and more I just find her one of my real favourites, and her attitude, her can-do spirit, her hilarious reminiscings about her family at Christmas, and the fact that, as always, she picks up a boyfriend (probably my favourite part of Unregenerate! was how she hooked the cabbie/bouncer, heh) - they all made her completely enjoyable to listen to in this one, and really made the audio play as a whole stand out.

Anyway, those are just my Mel-related thoughts for the day. I figure she's the sort of companion who could use a little flag-waving from time to time. :)

Why do you like Mel?

A couple of days ago, I asked over at doctorwho, why Mel is so unpopular. Its something that I can sort of understand why people don't like her, but surely there are companions Adric and Martha who are a lot more annoying than Mel. Some silly reasons included:

~ Her fashion sense (It was the 80s! Come on!)
~ She is ginger.
~ Her scream.

As far as I have seen, every single Doctor Who companion has screamed at some point (except maybe Harry, I can't remember him screaming. I might need to refresh my memory though), Mel just happens to have the best (and loudest!) scream. Ginger? Well if that was the case, Donna and Turlough should be just as unpopular as Mel.

As I have heard a lot of reasons why she is so unpopular, I want to know why people do actually like Mel.

I've only seen one of her episodes, Paradise Towers, but I've listened to all of her audio adventures with the Seventh Doctor and most of the ones with the Sixth and so far I really do like her. One thing I love about her is that she doesn't constantly ask the Doctor to take her home (one thing that bothered me about Tegan although I started liking her as soon as she stopped asking). Mel is kind and likes to see the best in people. She is positive and doesn't give up. And I do rather like that outfit from Paradise Towers, the 80s were a very 'special' time!

Time's Champion character study vid for Mel.

Has anyone else here heard of the Time's Champion fan publication that is due out soon? It's the novel that Craig Hinton was working on when he died. It is apparently being finished and published by his friends.

And, as with most of Hinton's Sixth Doctor books, it will have Mel in it. :)

There's apparently fanvids being made to promote it. And Mel gets the spotlight in one of them!

Time's Champion Character Studies: Mel

I think this is probably the first Mel fanvid ever. :D
